Where can I buy a rebuilt hydraulic pump for a Super A and what should it cost?

I took the allen bolt out of the resevoir where the top line from the pump bolts to the resevoir. The I&T shop manual tells you to hook a pressure gage in place of that allen bolt. I can loosen it up while the tractor is running and I have no pressure at that point. I do have fluid but no pressure. It seems like you should have pressure out of one of those line going to the resevoir, from the pump, if the pump is turning. Right or wrong?

Don't know. Nothing much in those pumps except seals and gaskets, which are readily available from Case/IH. Unless the gears are stripped it should be fixable. You sure it's the pump? The hyd resevoir has a bunch of stuff in it that can be replaced also.

I have to knock on wood, never having had problems with these pumps. I was tempted to respond last evening. Most of the discussion you see on here is that the pump is easily rebuildable and parts are readily available from CaseIH.

One of the problems I believe guys run into with this system is that hydraulic resovoir is so small that an unnoticed leak can soon run the system dry, thus damageing the pump. One of the hard to notice leaks is along pump shaft and into oil pan of engine.

The main problem these pumps have is the shaft seals get bad and you lose hyd. oil into the crankcase. If this happens change your oil and fix the pump as it'll dilute the oil and cause BAD problems! I have heard tell of people replacing the seals and I've heard of people just replacing the pump. Last time I priced a new one at caseIH it was over $250 and that was several years back. The problem with replacing the seals is the shaft is usually grooved where the old seal was. It looks like a speedi-sleeve could fix the pump shaft but never tried it.

Used a speedi sleeve on mine, but the hole the shaft goes thru had to be drilled out so it could turn.

I took the pump off and stuck it in a bucket of oil and run the pump with a drill motor. The pump works fine. I read on this site about a pressure regulator valve orifice and screen that cloggs up. It is the allen screw in front of the battery. My was so clogged up that it was collapsed. I cleaned it up and now the left side rockshaft works really good, but the right shaft will not move. It makes a hissing noise when the lever is anywhere except full up or full down. Has anyone run into this problem? I took the rockshafts off to clean and paint them, so I know they are not stuck. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
