My 424 utility has a c-146 engine, and the telilite for oil pressure comes on once in awhile. After checking the oil level, which was fine, I put on a Snap-on oil pressure gauge to see what was going on. At temperature the idle at 500 rpm the pressure is 12#. At 1500 rpm the pressure stays at 38#. My question is this enough pressure, the manual doesn't give the acceptable ranges. Thanks in advance BCB

12# of pressure is plenty at idle. I wouldn't worry about damaging the engine until it got around 6 or 8. 12# does indicate some wear though. We ran an H for years as a mower tractor with the needle bearly above "0".

Big City Bob, I wouldn't think your pressure is out of whack. Pressure will increase with RPM's and drop with a slower speed, also drop as the oil warms up. I have a B250 that shows high pressure at start up and as the engine warms up the pressure drops back but when you give it higher RPM's the pressure rises..as long as the pressure is constant you should be OK. .....Mike in Exeter Ontario
