Greetings! At the risk of showing my complete ignorance, I need help installing my rebuilt injector pump on my 706. The pump came with a tag indicating it is to be installed at TDC on #1 cylinder. I removed the inspection plate, found TDC on the flywheel. I also removed the lifter cover (it was leaking anyway). I rotated the engine one revolution back around to TDC. During this revolution the intake valve (second lifter from the front?) went up and back down. I believe I am ready to install the pump. Any input from those more knowledgable would certainly be welcome.
Thanks to all in advance
Brett M

You will be on TDC number one when you can turn these six push rods: from the front 1,2,3,5,7, & 9.

The number 1 piston has to be on compression stroke to set the time on the pump. Both valves should be closed on number 1 cylinder. Then find the appropriate timing mark.

I probably did not offer a clear explaination in my previous description. Both valves are closed at TDC but as such could not be certain if I was on the compression cycle. I rotated the engine one revolution, and during that cycle, the intake valve did open and close before returning to TDC. This is the point I have left it believing it is at the proper point for installation of the pump. Does this sound about right?
Thanks for the response,
Brett

I do not know the engine identification number, however, I have reason to believe the tractor is about a 1963 model and does have glow plugs, and a Roosa Master pump.

That's the American-built D-282 since it has glow plugs and a Roosa Master.
