my '55 farmall 400 is constantly missing, it hasn't ran good once today. What could be my problem? i took out all of the spark plugs, and cleaned them, still nothing, gas is a good flow, what else could be wrong? I took the distributer cap off and looked good.

If all else fails a set of new, made to fit, spark plug wires is easy and under $20. Blow out the holes where they plug into the cap with contact cleaner. Gurned my H into a whole new machine, almost.

Start the beast up and let it run. Take each spark plug wire off at the cap one at a time. If you pull the wire off and the engine doesn't change then you know that cylinder is missing and if it does change you know that cylinder is firing. Also sometimes cleaning plugs for some reason just doesn't work. What kind are you using? Autolite 3116 seem to work the best with the fuel we get around here. The other guys suggestion of points is good to, they can be weird sometimes to they might look good but could be bad. You won't get shocked by removing the wire at the cap but don't remove it at the plug. This test should eliminate the plugs or point to the plugs. If you remove the wire slowly try to make the spark jump to the wire and the cylinder might fire. Good Luck Tim K.

Points dirty or out of adjustment?
Condenser going bad?
Coil going bad?
Distributor cap cracked?
Rotor have carbon tracking?
Plug wires cracked?
Primary wire connections secure?
Valve spring broken?
Just do 1 thing at a time to know what works or doesn't.
Good luck.
