Where in the world did they hide the serial number on a F-30? A few years back before he passed away, my Grandfather rebuilt this tractor. The family wants to sell it but it would be nice to know the year of the ole girl.
Also does anyone know if Farmall ever painted this model tractor blue? Grandpa swore that was the original color.

top of frame rail at rear (left side) also shoud be a # right side of motor. if the motor has not been changed these num could match. Before Nov '36 these tractors were painted a dark grey it did apear to have a blueish cast to it under some light conditions.

I know the serial # for the F-20 (same series just smaller tractor) was on a serial number plate that was riveted on to the rear of tool box. My F-20 has matching serial number stamped into the frame rail and right side of engine. I would guess the F-30 would have the serial # in the same locations. The serial # plates are sometimes missing (removed from tractor). Not sure if the frame rail and engine numbers always matched, but they would give you an idea on the year. The number on the original serial number plate would of been the official number from factory. The F series tractors were first released with a battleship gray kind of a color. In the later production of this series, Farmall changed there tractor color to red. The color on the F-20 changed to red around Nov. of 1936. Not sure if the color change on all the models occured at the same time. I hope this helps a little.
