This may be elementary for most of you, but... how do I remove the key so I can unscrew the steering wheel on my 1946 A? Do I drive it towards the front or rear of the tractor? All of my books simply say "remove the steering wheel" and that doesn't tell me much. Also, part of my problem may excessive rust so the thang won't budge.

Brad,
I used a gear puller. I first used penetrating oil, then I used the puller (plus a couple of taps with a rubber hammer). I came off nicely after a bit.

The key is a woodruff (aka half moon) key and cannot be removed from the shaft until the wheel is removed

My steering wheel must be different from the A: mine isn't screwed on, it's press fit, so I need to remove the wheel before I remove the woodruff. Sorry for the confusion.
