I'm trying to ID the model on an International Harvister. The frame # is "6012-Y-FF" and the engine # is "D236-15587". Any help on the model and year would be great, along with any other information you feel I should know. Thanks, -Bill

This could be a 3616 IH made for their Construction Equipment (CE) division, this was a unit frame loader tractor, has a cast front axle and some had backhoes factory mounted.

Thanks for the information KB. It will take a few days to get a photo. The biggest hint is that the tractor is painted "road crew yellow". Also on each side of the engine housing are four one-inch bolts. I think they were attached to a front end loader or other attachment. I looked around the web site and couldn't find much on the 606 or 460. Do you have any facts or information? Thanks again for the help. -Bill

Bill, the 460 was avalible in Row-Crop and Utility versions. The 606 was the replacement for the 460 Utility (the 606 was never avalible in Row-Crop). If the tractor you are looking at is a Row-Crop, then it is most definetly a 460, but since you say it is painted yellow and probably used to have a loader, I bet it is a Utility tractor once used by a county or township road crew, or a constuction company, in which case it could be either a 460 Utility or a 606. Does it still have the sheet metal? If you could post a good picture showing the grill, I could definetly tell you what it is. The hood sidepanels and grill are about the only differences between a 460 and 606 that would jump out at a guy. Look carefully at the tag where you found the serial number "6012-Y-FF". That is the serial/model number tag, the model number should be above the serial number, but the model number is only painted on, so it wears off easy. I hope this helps and I will be looking for you to post back.

I just thought of somthing.... since you say it is yellow, it could also be somthing built by IH's Industrial division. Several of those machines had a D-236, but from the info you have posted so far, it sounds like a farm/utility tractor to me.

The number on the engine means it's a D-236 engine. Thats a six-cylinder 236 cubic inch diesel. The only two farm tractors it is found in are the 460 Diesel and the 606 Utility. Look at pictures in YT's photo gallery and tell us more about the tractor.

I don't think that either of those numbers is of much help. I suggest that you might want to give a general description of your tractor (or look in the photo gallery for one that looks like yours). This should give you an idea of what you might have. Then we might be able to suggest where to look for the serial number. Hope this helps. SAm in NS
