My Wife's Grandfather made his living on a small dairy farm. He farmed with a 1951 Super H which he bought new. It had a narrow front end. That is all I know about this tractor. Could someone give me some details about this tractor, hp, specs, etc. I am also to understand that he used an IH 45 baler behind it. Though it is a bit off topic here, I'd be interested in info on that one too.

Thanks in advance,
Bill

The super H has about 15% more power and a number of improvements including disc brakes and higher gear speeds above 1st gear. Tractor had beefed up gear for the increased power. I have one and love it. Guy Fayes book enumerates all the improvements.

The IH-McCormic 45-T PTO Baler was made in the late '40's thru late '50's.
It made a 14" X 18" bale.
Weight was 2285 lbs.
F.O.B. factory was $1570.00 in 1958.

If it was a Super H, then it had to be a 1953 or 54. The Super was a higher HP version of the Farmall H which was built from 1939 to 1953. H PTO horsepower - 27.9 on gasoline. Super H PTO HP - 34.6 on gasoline. The H had a 152 cu in engine and a Super H had a 164 cu in engine. Both had shipping weights around 3800 pounds.
