After 1958 IH started making more then just industrial models in yellow.I own a 1960 Cub in yellow and a IH500 crawler in yellow, both came that way.

Shipshod,

Both your yellow Cub tractor and your yellow 500 crawler are considered industrial tractors. In the late 50's, IHC started offering the Cub in both red with Farmall on the hood, and the Cub in yellow with International on the hood. By the mid 60's they were offered only standard in yellow with International on the hood, although as with all IHC products you could special order it red or any other color you wanted. The Farmall Cub was considered agricultural and the International Cub was considered industrial. Your hood probably says International, although this is not 100%. The International 500 crawler was always considered a industrial tractor. Earlier IHC crawlers could be purchased in either a agricultural version or a industrial version. Usually there was a slight difference in the undercarriage and some different options. Although the 500 was available with some options that were normally considered farm options, such as 3 point hitch, it was still always considered a industrial tractor by IHC, regardless of if it was painted the standard yellow or any other color.

Bobby,

Earlier IH industrial tractors (during the Letter Series era and prior to mid or late 50's) had red for the standard color but could be ordered any color the customer wanted. Starting in the late 50's, Federal Yellow or Industrial Yellow became the standard color of IH industrial models, but they could still be ordered any color the customer wanted from the factory. Yellow has nothing to do with anniversary models.

Industrial tractors would have been painted yellow from the factory. Some would have also been ordered that way, for highway departments, ect.
