The I&T manual says that removing an oil pump from a Farmall A is apparent after removing the oil pan. Well, it isn't apparent! I have removed the two bolts from the outside of the engine that hold the lower portion of the pump, but, how do I force the pump down out of the flange in the block that holds the upper part?

When I removed mine, I recall having a hech of a time. After I removed the pick up tube, I used a very small hammer to "tap" the pump out. I also tried twisting when I could if I recall.

Hope this helps.

BRAD,
JUST DID MINE RECENTLY, AFTER YOU REMOVE THE TWO BOLTS ON THE OUTSIDE OF THE BLOCK IT SHOULD SLIDE OUT OF THE UPPER HOUSING, YOURS MAY JUST BE GUMMED UP A BIT. YOU MAY TRY USING A SMALL SCREWDRIVER ON THE INSIDE OF THE BLOCK IN THE OIL PUMP MOUNTING HOLE AND PRY DOWNWARD ON IT.
GOOD LUCK

Thanks, guys. I finally got it off. I had to use a pry bar and a little persuasion, but once it broke loose it came out easily.
