Just about ready to acquire a Super A - finally sold my H - and am wondering if I can use the equipment I have with it. I have a five foot pull-type Bush Hog mower, a two disk turning plow (also pull type), a seven foot pull-type sickle mower and a disk. Any problems hooking up with the offset PTO? is the Bush Hog or the sickle bar too big for the Super A?

My A came with a 2 disc semi mount plow but I don't think it was set to cut as much as 2 disc H plow. Never used the plow so don't know how it performed. As Hugh said just hook rotary cutter up in line with PTO I always thought this was a plus made cutting along fences and around trees easier and only one side of tractor ran in uncut grass.

Red: I ran pto equipment for years with SA and 130 using swinging drawbar set in line with tractor pto. If you have a 7' sickle mower that bolts to the H drawbar, and has tail wheel, most likely the H was enough wider than the SA, so when you bolt to SA drawbar so mower heel lines up with right rear tire for mowing, the pto is not far off being in line with tractor shaft. My dad had one of those 7' mowers with tail wheel. On 130 there was a steel rod from mower, between left rear wheel and fender to rockshaft on tractors hydraulics, that raised and lowered the mower bar. Contrary to what some people may think this was a factory setup, according to mower manual for a Super A. Our mower would also bolt right up to H or 300, we used a shorter pull rod and hooked a hydraulic cylinder on the end along the side of tractor. This was not a factory option. The interesting part in all of this is 130 did 90% of the mowing. Many many Super As have pulled 7' semi mount sickle mowers.

On the disk plow I wouldn't comment, as I have no experience. On the disk harrow SA will pull 20 plate tandem comfortably and a 24 plate with some difficulty. 28 blade if gang angle is not too sharp.

As a kid, growing up, I have seen seven foot sickle bar mowers on A's, B's and C Farmalls. No problem in handling them. You should get along fine.

The seven-foot mower may be too much. The factory hoffered a five-foot sickle-bar mower for the offsets.

I have a Super A and would think that the A could handle both the bush hog and the sicle mower. IH made a rear-mount fast hitch 5 ft sicle for the Super A and I've seen special bush hogs, too.

The tricky part is the offset pto. I don't have a mower for my Super A, but most mowers I've seen (rear-mount IH sicle or bush hog) have special offset pto gearboxes/shafts to mount up to the A.

Your stuff might work with your Super A, but you might go through U joints due to excessive kink in your pto shaft.
