Has anyone here ever had a roadbox apart on a Farmall F-20?

Here's what I need to know, there are 2 shafts the come out of the transmission, the one that's driven by the engine and the other one is above for the road box. The drive shaft has the larger gear on it, and the top shaft has the smaller gear, on the gear I have the splined hole is quite a bit bigger than the top shaft diameter. Is there supposed to be a bushing that goes on the top shaft that the small gear rides on?

Andrew,
My road box does have an adapter which slides over the output shaft end of the transmission. This adapter is what the top gear slides on for engagement/disengagement. Is your box aluminum or cast iron? I have both. One of mine is going on a Regular, where it will need the entire top shaft replaced since the Regular does not have the splined extension. I don't know where you can find just the adapter. Maybe you can have one made.

John,
The box I have is aluminum, and the tractor does have the extended splined shaft. It has a cast iron cap over it.

Andrew, The standard F-20 shaft will have the little extension on it. With my iron box for my F-20, it came with the extension adaptor which fits over the little splined end. You will need some sort of hollow adaptor that fits the splined end and mates up with the inside of the sliding gear. My aluminum cased unit does not have this since it is for the Regular where the entire shaft gets replaced. Maybe you could find or make an extended Regular-type shaft which fits the gear. I can take photos of what I have to show you if that would help. I am just about to install my iron box so now is the time to take photos.
