A freind of mine is looking to buy Super MTA. I found A Diesel in good shape at dealership in Southeast Minnesota. They want $10,000.00 for it. Are they out of their mind? I understand there were less than 1500 of these made, but that price seems way out there. What would be a reasonable price to pay for an MTA Diesel?

Thanks in advance.

The sad part is that you can spend $10,000 restoring that type Farmall Diesel. I can attest to that as I spent almost that restoring a Farmall MD a couple years ago. I talked to another guy at one of the Red Power shows with an MDV and his quote was "Restoring the Farmall MDV almost broke my bank". If you completely rebuild the engine, most of that money is spent there. Roger

There were about 2700 made. Yes that tractor has been for sale for a couple of years. If you can get it for 5000 you will steal it. I would say $7500.

I have seen the tractor you are talking about (the one in Spring Valley, right?). It's in exellent shape, but I couldn't see giving $10,000 for it. Look for a SMTA gas, a nice one could be bought for around $3000, and parts are very easy to find.

You got it. They told me to make them an offer. Do you think they would take $5,000.00 for it. Do you know anything more about it?

I also stopped and looked at it a year ago or so. Dealer claimed he had been offered $9,000. Well, who knows. . .. As I recall, one rim had had some rough welding done on it.

Sorry, I don't know much more about it. I passed by a few times this spring and stopped to look at it. It never hurts to make an offer, I've heard they're a pretty good dealership to do business with.

Yes, they are out of their minds. Unless the tractor has been rebuilt from end to end (TA, clutch, engine) with new rubber and an Expo quality paint job. For 10k it better have wide front and fenders too. Your average Super MDTA is worth 3500 to 6000 depending on options, tires, paint and overall mechanical condition.
