I put this post out there for a freind of mine 2 days ago. I guess nobody saw it so I am posting it again.

A freind of mine has a 1956 Farmall 200. It steers hard. Seems kind of catchy when you turn. Does anyone else have this problem? Any suggestions? He has taken the steering gear and worm gear out and have replaced the seals and re-assemled them. That did not help. The tie rods are new.
He would appreciate any help you guys can give.

The 200 is I think the same a C or Super C regards the steering gear. If you have had out the worm gear and the worm wheel (steering gear) and inspected the bearings, can't see what else would be wrong. If you replaced the big seal on bottom of the main steering shaft, you would have to have had the bearings out. However as you describe the problem, it sounds like one or both of the bearings that support the main steering shaft are bad. Also sounds like you have a wide front. Steering gear is the same as narrow front which I have. Don't know what effect the wide front would have.
