I've just moved to my new house where I'm transitioning from a push mower to a farmall SM with a brush hog. I'm a decent weekend mechanic, but tractors are new to me. Any suggestions on some reading material to get me going? The tractor runs good, but I need to know what things to oil, grease and check levels on. Eventually, I would like to do some more restoration on it. Any help would be appreciated.

Pick up an I&T service manual at your local Case/IH dealer,or buy an the original reprint of the operator's manual at from Binder Books. They offer service manuals as well. Amazon.com carries some farmall restoration guide books also.

Your Case dealer can order the operators manual (#1004296R1) and a master parts catalog (#TC-46). ALso handy is the engine tune up specs manual (#GSS-1356) so you don't have to search through the operators manual every time. Good luck.

Thanks for the suggestion. It's good to know to get all three manuals. I'd hate to plan to do something and find out I didn't have the reference when I need it.
