I am in need of a float for a CARTER UT carburetor. Does anyone know where to find one. I checked at the IH dealer and you can only buy the carb. kit and the float is unavailable.

Ditto on the JB weld. Used QuickSteel myself - same thing, just easier to apply. Couldn't find a float without buying the whole kit. I removed the float, cleaned it, sanded it, cleaned it again with carb cleaner, let it dry and smeared just a little bit of the epoxy on it (so it wouldn't weight it down too much) and reinstalled it. Works fine. Also - if you solder it - make sure it is COMPLETELY free of all gasoline or BOOM!

What's the nature of the problem with your existing float? I had a leak similar to FC's and fixed it with a dab of JB weld. There was a Carter carb for a Super C listed on Ebay within the past couple of weeks. They show up there from time to time.

The float does not have a leak. Shaking them and holding them to your ear and I can not hear or feel like they have taken any gas inside. It just seems to have lost it buoyancy. I know this sounds impossible. After I let it run for about 2 minutes it starts to leak gas out of the carb. bowl and then sputters.

"It just seems to have lost it buoyancy." Could be its got "dregs" in it, that very fine junk that seeps into everything once rusts starts. What about hooking a water line or a jug with alcohol in it(free flowing-gravity fed) onto the carb and depressing the float and see if the needle and seat is bleeding by?

I ran into the same problem a year or so ago with my C which had the carter UT. I had gas in mine and it was leaking at a solder seam. I got lucky and found the leak, cleaned it up and re-soldered it and it works fine now. Maybe someone will be able to provide a source for these.
