Just saw a Farmall M-TA 1954. Looks great, everything seems to run good, and drives okay. Is $3800 reasonable?

Hugh kinda hit the nail on the head. This would be a SMTA, by the way. I would say the tractor, paint and mechanical, would have to be in excellent to outstanding shape. I looked at one here a few months ago. Had live PTO. The paint graded at a "C". The tires were a "D". The engine was what I would call a "B+" and it had a well-done 12 volt conversion. Also had a 3-point hitch addition. The tractor sold for $2000. Take it for what it is worth.

Becky, I own 2 MTA's and try to keep up on all that I see sell or advertised. That by no means qualifies me as an expert. There are many things to consider, but for me.....the tractor would have to be in somewhat above average condition with a wide front and above average rubber for me to be willing to pay that much. HTH....Rick

Becky: If that tractor has had a complete restoration in past ten years and has been a hobby tractor since. By complete restoration I mean mechanical as well as cosmetic. If someone has merely got running well and done a good paint job you may find yourself spending a lot of money.

Look it over well, if you are not right up on those items take someone along who is. $3,800. could be a bargain, it could also be high and it could be just what it is worth. Just be careful.
