Hello to everyone at YT. Just bought an A model with cultivators front and rear and the tractor is in running order but needs to be tweaked out. ie-- tuneup, wires replaced etc. First question -- serial # is FAA165437 what is the year of manufacture? And the next is -- anyone got a wiring schematic available to copy? And of course the biggy is what can this tractor be worth in the above condition it is in. I'll give it a 7 on a scale of 10. Sorry to say I'm not an IH person so don't know didly about them so appreciate all you can tell me. Will be doing a search also at this site to learn more.

Thanks -- Bob C

Bob,
I would recommend buying a reproduction manual from Binder Books. Their repros are very easy to read. Some others sell poor copies and the pictures/diagrams are hard to read. I am 99% sure that the wiring diagram for these is in the Operator's Manual. The wiring is just about the same for all the letter series Farmalls. If it has been converted to 12 volt, or you are converting it, then you need to do some things differently than in the manual. (Neg. Ground, Different Coil, Different Bulbs)
As far as the value goes, it really depends on who wants it at the time you're selling it. I've seen those tractors in great shape sell for under $1500, and I've also seen some pretty rough ones go for $3000. Based on the information you gave (which isn't a ton) I would say that I could buy one like it for about $1200 if I was patient.

Your tractor was built in 1946.
