Farmall 300, made clutch adjustments, still sticks

I bought a nice 300 at an auction last week and noticed that she does not like to shift out of gear. Reading the posts here, I saw that the clutch and TA levers should be adjusted to remedy that. I got the I&T manual and did the adjustments, most everything on the tractor was already very close to the specs. Needless to say I did not adjust much since the specs were close, now the are at spec. Anyway, she still sticks in gear. Is this indication that the clutch is worn or is it something else? Thanks!

BTD, if you want to check this out back your tractor up a short step incline a couple of feet and push the clutch in. It will not roll back down the incline until you pull the TA lever back. The adjustment has nothing to do with that paticular problem. How ever Hugh is right that you do need to adjust your linkage to the letter if you want it to operate properly.

BTD, What happens when your tractor does not want to come out of gear when the TA is in high range is, planatery gears do not like to turn backwards. In other words if your tractor is on even the slightest incline or wants to roll back at all the planatery gears will have a slight amount of back pressure against them also putting a slight amount of pressure on the main trans gears also. When you pull your TA lever back you release the TA clutch and this releases that small amound of pressure. You will probably notice that If your tractor is pointed down a slight incline or wants to roll forward a little it will always come out of gear easy. If you have ever had your TA apart you will have noticed that you can only rotate it in one direction. Like I say those planatery gears won't rotate backwards.

BTD: What happens if you pull the TA into low when you try to shift? Try just another half turn or so on the short linkage between clutch shaft and TA shaft. Technically what happens with this is that short linkage shifts TA to low while shifting.

We can also assume something is worn to the point that no amount of adjustment will work. If that be the case a turn or two on that short linkage will never hurt. Dave may have had the best solution. However I have always found that by selling a problem and buying another tractor, you just seem to buy another problem.

This was the same problem I had with the 300 I had, everything in specs but hard getting out of gear, I remedied this by selling the tractor.
