I've gotten some good advice. I'm confident that the fuel system is OK. I got a suggestion to check the auto. advance in the distributor. Sounds like good advice. Help me out here, what do I need to do? Skeet a little WD-40 up in there around the distributo shaft? I'm guessing that it works on centrifugal force and that the weights are stuck.

Bob, you should be able to feel a spring action in the rotor in the distributor. Can't remember off hand which direction, but you should be able to rotate the rotor some, and it should spring back because of the advance springs. I had mine stick and used some penetrating oil to free. The best method if sticking would be to remove the distributor and clean and lube everything to do with the advance mechanism. It made a huge difference in the way my C ran after freeing the advance up. By the way don't force the rotor if it will not turn fairly easily.

Bob, Im by no means an expert on govenors, but I do have mine apart on my Super A. Your right about the weights, they in turn push the thrust washers out towards the shaft that links up to the carb. To really see whats going on inside that housing you could pull off the govenor housing. Before you do that you want to make sure that your linkage is not binding or sticking any were, between the govenor and the carb. Im sure others on here have a lot more experience on this assembly than me.
