I have a 1964 B 275 that has burnt out the indicator wire in the dash. I have tried to find one and they are avaliable for around $180 Australian but this is for the complete unit.I Know that if the correct resistance wire is used a new coil could be made.I need to know what type of wire is used and what diameter and resistance, volts and current the glow plugs opperate on,ect. Has enyone done this and knows of the procedure The B 275 is a great litte tractor.

Thanks in advance,

Arlo.

Thanks to all that replied. I Fixed the problem by using iron (not steel) wire of same thickness and bent to the same shape.Early model Toyota Landcruser diesels use the same glow plug style indicator.

Thank you again to all that replied.

Arlo.

Had a similar problem on B414D, since the glow plugs are all in series with the indicator, I connected the 2 wires on the back of the indicator together, thus bypassing the indicator.
When using the glow plugs, I would just count 1000,1001,1002 ... 1030 approximately 30 secs. Then engage the starter.

I can't remember how many seconds it was exatly.
DO NOT HOLD glow plugs on to long or it will burn them out.
I would start with 10 seconds first, then try to start, then keep increasing by 5 seconds until you discover the correct time for your B275.

Good luck
JB

Arlo, we had an Aussie 564 tractor which had glowplugs, and when the indicator wire burn't out we just used a piece of wire that was the same physical size as the original. It was only mean't as a stop gap repair but it lasted for years. Regards, Redfan.

I went to a Case international dealer and bought a replacement for 45 dollars. I haven't tested it yet.
