Hi You Guys,

When did IH start putting the seat shock in front of the spring instead of behind on those old Hs and Ms? Was it in '52?

Or was it just a happenstance thing?

Also, can a guy buy the rubber bushings for the pivot shaft on the seat?

Thanks,

Allan

Shock bushings from your local auto parts store will also work.Work and look as good as origional, and probably cheaper!

Allan,
The IH seat had the shock in front of the spring. The seat that had the shock behind the spring was an aftermarket seat by Monroe. One of my H's has the IH seat and the other one has the Monroe seat.

Those rubber bushings are available from your Case-I.H. dealer. Very inexpensive if I remember right. The hard part is getting the old pin and bushings out, but it can be done.
I have a 1950 H that has the shock in front of the spring, I can only assume that it is original.

If you don't have an IH parts dealer nearby, you can get them from OEM Tractor Parts, 1-800-283-2122. $3.00/pair.
