where can i buy new or used ih dot cylinder head bolts/ih cylinder head retaining cap screws for a 1948 farmall cub tractor i need all 15 head bolts where do you buy these ih dot bolts i need more than just head bolts can anybody help me thanks bill seneca,IL

i thank everybody for the help on ih cylinder head bolts/ih cylinder head retainig cap screws i got great feedback lynn from tm tractors gave me good imformation they use columbia tractor for there ih dealer lynn from tm tractors posted all the imformation on the head bolts i needed on there web site you can go to the site and see in engines the the parts that i needed with size,length and part #s for a 1948 farmall cub thanks again everybody bill seneca,il

CUB TORQ; IS THERE ANYTHING LEFT TO THE ORIGINAL
ENGINE HARDWARE? CAN YOU SALVAGE A PART OF THE HEAD FASTENING HARDWARE? LIST YOUR FASTENER
NEEDS FOR REBUILD AND SEE WHAT THE INTERNET FRIENDS CAN COME UP WITH. GOODLUCK.

bill, try finding someone that is parting out one. What size are the bolts? I have a C69 engine that is similar, I'll check it out today.

If you buy actual head bolts from a supplier your going to pay a lot of money. The best and cheapest way to get head bolts is to buy the correct length grade 8 bolts. One end will already be threaded and a machine shop can cut and thread the other end.

You need to be careful doing this. Head bolts are a special grade. We went to a machine shop to have some made and the guy said that he could not make them for what the dealer was asking. I've even tried cutting a 1/2" head stud down to length and re-threaded one end but it broke off at 90 foot pounds! We ended up buying all new head studs from the dealer for 8 bucks a piece. You may have this much if not more if you were to buy the bolts and have a machine shop thread one end.
