I have an old 2 row 40" corn planter. It has steel wheels and little markers on it. It has a lever to lift it up and down. The boxes are steel and round. I think their is suppose to be a seat on it but their isn't. It has a regular tractor hitch not for horses. What model of planter is this? what years were they made? and how are they suppose to be painted? Thanx for any info

B JDfarmer:That description will fit just about any hand lift two row corn planter ever built, any make. Because corn planters all have so many similarities it is hard to judge without actual pictures. The book 150 Years of IH by CH Wendel is quite good if you can find a copy. I will warn you however, there are planters just not in there, just too many to cover them all.

If you can post a picture of the planter I may be able to help you. Please note I said may. They are a hard call.
