IH DT-817 vs. DV 800

Hey. I was just wondering why IH didn't put the DT-817 in its 4WD other than the 4300. Was it a good engine? Everyone complains about the DV-800 so why didn't they use the big straight 6? Maybe Brooks would know.

There was a 15 year time span from when the DT-817 was first made until the DV-800 was. Why would the engineers use a 15 year old engine design when the V-800 was fresh from the Transtar/Paystar truck line?

The DV-800 probably was lighter in weight and more compact in size than the DT-817 too.
