What does anyone know about this tractor, got a line on one, but I won't get to look at it till Monday.. Don't know the model year, dealer didn't have his papers with him when he called me... Any known problems with them? Strengths, weaknesses...Pluses, minuses... etc.. etc... What is the going rate for one of these tractors in good condition? The Dealer described it as "one sharp tractor" and is asking $4950. Thanks for any help you guys can give me!

I spent 100's of hrs on the seat of a pair of 504 utilities. No major repairs. To call them light weights doesn't do them justice. These people have 100hp tractors on the brain. 50hp is more than enough to do most jobs. We farmed 300 acres with these and a Super MD. The would pull 3/16's anywhere you wanted to go and do a better job with fast hitch than those worthless 3 point hitches that would pull the plow up out of the ground every time you hit a little clay. Buy it, you will not regret it.

They will only handle light work, just small chores. The gasoline nowadays doesnt have enough lead in it. If you work em you burn the valves. Kind of a handy little tractor for odd jobs though. As for price: seen a 404 utility type go for $4200 today at a farm auction. Just some food for thought.

Spent some time on a neighbor's narrow-front 504 several years ago, and kinda liked it. It's probably the smallest decendent of the Farmall line to have live pto, power steering, TA, etc., though not all might have these options. If it's a solid tractor and has the options you want, it should be a VERY useful small tractor.

(At least its CURRENTLY on Page 6) I spotted one at the local Case-IH for the same price and posted a blurb about it there. There was some discussion about it there. Maybe reading that thread will answer SOME of your questions, beyond that, there's some REAL knowledge on this board, they'll help ya.

PS>> I'm more of a John Deere guy, (but I don't have anything against IH so don't flame me :-) hehehe, in fact my favorite raking tractor is an old IH Farmall 300 narrow front) so I don't have much of a picture of this tractor in my head... does anybody have a pic of one or know where there is a picture? Just email it to me or post the URL where it can be seen... thanks again!
