Hi, I am thinking about buying a super C for using on my 10 acer proptery. My question is how usefull would it be for doing stuff like grading the drive way, moving around snow, or using to run a pto chipper? Also how much does one weigh with loaded tires vs non loaded?
thanks, steve b.

I have a 53 Super C that I bought in 1985. I used it for plowing snow and hauling firewood and hogging pastures and all of the other stuff that one uses a tractor for on 45 non-farming

With front and rear weights and the tires not loaded, it weighs about 3700 lbs. I think this is close as when we pull it, we can get down to the 3500 lb. class and can add enough weight to get easily up to 4500 lbs..... kind of thinking out loud here. And a Super C will pull good, too.

Anyway---I have an aftermarket 3 pt. hitch on it from Cental Tractor and with a rear blade, I pushed a lot of snow for a lot of years. (Now I put the Western plow on the warm Cherokee, grab a cup of coffee and turn on the oldies station.)

Anyway again--this was my main tractor for over 18 years. I hogged over 30 acres each summer with the Super C (with ORC on it.) Last year we went right through it, from engine to clutch to brakes to seals, etc. Now it parades, shows, and pulls. It's a great tractor and if I had to get rid of all of my tractors but one, the Super C would stay. So handy and maneuverable. too...

My $.02

I recently restored a 1952 Farmall Super C with a narrow front end. I am looking for a push (snow) blade that works of the hydraulic touch control arms.

Any help, advice or suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

I weighed mine at the last pull. It was 3100 (w/o the operator) with a saginaw 3pnt, no wheel weights, and no fluid on the tires. I would add ~600-700lbs for fluid depending on your tire size. Standard rear wheel weights are ~300lbs per set, fronts are ~85lbs per set, front frame weights are ~170lbs per set.

Can't help you on the wood chipper but they will push lot's of snow and should do a good job of grading.I have one set of weights on mine, no fluid in tires, the weight of a rear blade and with the weight of my big butt it almost never spins a tire even on ice. I think you will like it.

Hi Paul, That Super C looks great, I had a Super C like that. It needed minor repair when I purchased it. I replaced the steering u-joints
and repaired a front flat tire. I plowed the garden with it and it blew a hydraulic line at the end of the last furrow when I raised the plow. I replaced both lines and I sold it when someone wanted to buy it. It was my favorite
tractor. The tractor had new tires too. Hal
