we are looking to buy a farmall A tractor.model:FAA with serial number: 277069. would like to know what year the tractor is and ball park figure of price it's worth. it's in working condition,good tires and mostly original parts.

barb: The tractor you are looking at is actually a Super A. To check the year go to left of this page under Reasearch & Info, click on serial numbers, then Farmall, then Super A. Chart will give you the year. The tractor will have hydraulics. I expect it is a 48 or 49. I'll let you do the checking.

Barb, The serial number you posted says you are looking at a 1949 Super A Farmall. (Found in the left hand column of this page). In the condition you stated like running condition, good tires and mostly original parts, the best ball park price which swings widely by geographic area would be around $1200 to $2200. There were a lot of those made and parts are still available through your local Case IH (NH) dealer as well as salvage yards and other sources. They are a handy tractor to operate with implements that are also available but mostly in used condition. It should have hydraulics which make it more versatile than it's predecessor, the Farmall A. As with any tractor, the Super A also has it's own limitations. Good luck
