I think my super A has a farmall (A) engine in it.Reason # 1. left side of transmission # is 251687 making it a 1948 model according to the ref. on this forum.Reason # 2 I am having problem with tractor shutting it self down like it was starving for fuel.I changed points plugs condenser cap and coil.Still had problem so I drained fuel tank and added new fuel with new sediment bowl and cutoff valve because gas will seep down into carb.on into air cleaner, where it will stay in the medal canister for days.So I look for a vapor lock maybe(?) cause by now I don't know what.During process of looking for overheating problem I can't find water pump.I research on this site to find (A )does not have a water pump.DuH ? I then find a casting # on block that reads 354803 but I don't see a place on this site to research casting #'s.If you have any nononsence idea's please help.

A and Super A both have the C113. If you have hydraulics, it is the correct engine, although later A engines may have had the hole for the hydraulic pump. Engines are otherwise identical. Your specific block number is not in my parts manual, but that doesn't mean much because the listed number is an assembly, ie includes sleeves, etc. Water pump was an option, most did not have one. The cooling system is thermosiphon, meaning the water circulates by the hot water rising, etc. Your heating problem could be a plugged radiator and/or block. Start by having the radiator cleaned, with the understanding that it might fall apart, requiring a new core or radiator. But first make sure the exterior of the core is not plugged with trash, and that the fan belt is tight. The gas in the air cleaner is there because your float is not shutting off the gas flow. Disassemble the carb, soak it in carb cleaner for several hours, blow it out with compressed air, and put a new carb kit in it. Be sure the float does not have a hole in it, and that it isn't hanging up on the side of the bowl. You do not have vapor lock. Serial number -- I assume by left side of transmission, you mean the plate on the inside of the left seat support -- otherwise that is some other number.

Thanks for the reply. When I read the info about serial #s I assumed that was stamped on side of tranny.I don't find a plate near seat or anywhere else on tractor.I have viually checked outside of rad. for trash. My next step is to remove rad. and as you said have cleaned and be ready for a repla$$$$nt. Yikes probally 2-300 dollars.I will also flush the block with a pressure washer thru lower rad hose housing as suggested on this forum.I have a front seal leak so I guess this would be the time to do that also. Thanks again

I would guess that your block casting number is actually 354898 either R1 or R2. That can be hard to read. That would place your Super A as between mid '51 to '54 (that block replaced the previous one at serial number 310300 in mid '51 when the Super C was introduced). Your serial number should be in the range of 310300 to 356000. Like CNKS said, ser num plate (should be) on left seat support. Stand on right side of tractor and put your head down where your feet normally rest, you should see it at the back of the support. Super A-1 was introduced at 356001 but it did have a water pump. CNKS has given you good pointers for flushing the block and getting the fuel system cleaned up.
