And here is a FAQ that was authored by an antique tractor guy. It seems the biggest problem with detergent oils is if the engines get real hot, or if you try to use motor oil for hydraulic oil. (Unless you have a real gunky engine).

BTW I also found reference to one company that designed their hydraulics system around 10w motor oil. The differences between oil may not always be that much it seems.

please inform us by all details about detergent dispresant additive package for diesel engine oil service about.
1- specefication : api cf / sg daimler benz sheet 228.0
2- final blend must have a ( T.B.N ) of 10 min as tested according to ASTM D-664 or any equivalent up-dated test.

all who have this detregent oil and its prices and who export this detergent oil .

please inform us urgently because we need to import about 2000 tons .

I need to buy some 10w high detergent oil. I would prefer to purchase this in a 55g. drum container. Anyone have a clue where I can find this?

If you rebuild the engine and use detergent oil you will not have aproblem. If you have an old engine that used non detergent oil and you put in detergent oil,crud and grime starts to loosen and it can clog the small passages and can cause oil starvation to critical parts.
