Aces,

What am I looking for on the end cap or plate? Do I sand the pump cover or end plate so it is flat and install a new gasket? Then check end play so it is in spec?

Thanks Bob

I would take it to the neighbor hood machine shop and have it checked and or taken down. I would not try to sand it it has to be straight. Also As far as I know all engines get there pressure from cam bearing clearances I know the pump has to pump but then the pressure is built up through trhe cam bearings. JON

never heard of that. If the bearings are loose the pump cannot build pressure but it's the pump that makes the pressure.
