I have a 48 M farmall and would like to know what I need to do to get the M ready to run a haybine. I already have one line but do I need two coming from the belly pump to make it work. I hooked the haybine up with the one line and she lifted the cutter bar up but would not let it down. Did the 48 model have live pumps? I thought the pto had to turn to make the pump work. Mine worked without the pto turning. There are 2 pipe plugs on one side and one on the other side of the tractor. My line that is run is coming from the side with the 2 plugs. Sorry so many ? and thanks in advance.

You have to have a one way cycl on the imp as the hy unit in the tractor is one way unless you add a two-way control. Just put a vent in the other port of your two-way cycl and make it one way as the weight of the pick-up of the haybine will drop it. The pump in the tractor does not run off the pto but the clutch has to be enguaged for it to work.

Cheapest vent is a 1/8" (or smaller) hole drilled in a standard plumbing plug. But this system does spew some hydraulic fluid. My nickel Dick Davis

My local Case-IH dealer has those vents in stock. Very reasonably priced.
