Hi, live in eastern Ont. and had a B414 Diesel that we used all winter. Had an 800W heater that was installed in the lower radiator hose as close to the block as possible. With a good battery and good glow plugs and 5W30 oil, it should start after being plugged in for about 1/2 hour on normal days and 1 hour on very cold days.

Good luck
JB

Hi, I can't remember it has almost been 40 years since I last had the pleasure of driving neighbors B250 but I believe it had a glow plug indicator on the dash. You would turn the handle switch until the glow plug indicator glowed red and then start the tractor.
The glow plugs are wired in series like the old style xmas tree lights and if one burnt out none of them would work and the glow plug indicator would never glow. It would almost be impossible to start the B250 unless it was 90F outside.

Hi, the heater that I am talking about fits inside the rad hose with the element pionting toward the block. You have to cut a hole in the rad hose for the electrical connection. The heater looks like one that goes in a frost plug in the block but is made to go in a hole in the rad hose. Canadain Tire use to sell them for about $10 30 years ago.

Good luck
JB
