Tell me where I'm going wrong on this one, 'cause I haven't had a belly pump out of an H since '65 and really didn't give the silly thing much attention back then:

I remove the drive and drop the belly pump out of the tractor. I gut the pump assembly of the gears and valve assembly and just leave the body of the pump on the reservoir. Put 'er back up in there and re-attach the pipefittings, but leave the drive off.

I run a feed hose to the live pump from the former drain plug and use those three former pressure points as return ports. In effect, just making the old system a storage tank.

What say you? Crazy?

The only problem he had was that the belly pump reservoir wasn't big enough. You had to be careful running the dump trailer up or you'd run the pump dry and shear the keyway on the drive gear. Those old tractors don't run so hot when the distributor doesn't turn...

Last winter he added a 5-gallon reservoir under the gas tank, and left the belly pump dry. It's quite a conglomeration of fittings and hoses, but it works great.

This is gonna be a fun project. I really like this little tractor and if I can make 'er go live, it is going to make for one sweet little outfit.

Gonna take pictures throughout the switch and might even throw up a little webpage for viewing, just for fun.

My biggest worry is the Farmhand loader. I "think" it is a closed center system, so I'll have to have at least two returns back to the tank; one for the power steering and one for the loader (if I'm thinking right).

My DuAll laoder has an open center, I suspect Farmhand would be the same but not sure.

You think a guy would get enough volume through that drain plug?

My 'knee-jerk' reaction is to just take that Farmhand tank and mount it up front along the frame rail; but the more I think about it, I'd really like to keep the tractors appearance as close to stock as I can.

I just don't like the look of a cobbled tractor. But, I'll do what I gotta to get her switched. :>)

That little port block is turning out to be somewhat of a stinker. Vender just could not locate one, so he is sending a block from a 400D. He says that he held it to a 300 pump and with a little "shaving", it will fit.

It has been a few years now but didnt the F-10,s have open center hyd.control. Dad had a live pump and a power steering unit put on his SM. Used unit and I think the pump was worn out. Seems we run a remote cyl.off that setup too. Wouldnt lift much. If I lived closer I would come up and supervise your installation.

I don't know about the Farmhands and whether they are "open or closed" center (mainly 'cause I don't know what I'm doin').

I studied this thing long and hard this morning. That Farmhand tank, aside from where it is mounted, it perfect for what I want to accomplish. So, this is my latest game plan:

Remove the feed line from the PTO pump and run it up front to feed the live pump.

Pressure out from the live pump to the "in" port on the proprietary valve; "exhaust port" on the proprietary valve to the Loaders 'in' port.

Loader is already dumping to the tank, so all I'll have to do is run an exhaust line from the power steering motor back to the tank.

Sound like a plan? :>)

Should work that way. Hope you well be alright and dont start throwin them wrenches,might hit the other half,s cat. Then you will be in trouble.
