I have posted this question before, but i need some ideas. The hyd. pump is a few hundred PSI below normal, so the selector valve is only choosing the Hyd, not the power steering. Can i make only the power steering work or even both, or would that require the whole new pump. If it does, how much? This is only a pulling tractor, so hyd. outlets are not nesicary. any ideas how i can have power steering?

If your pump is a few hundred PSI below normal, you probably need a new pump.

To test this there should be two or three outlets from the diverter valve, one to the power steering, one to the hydraulic outlets and possibly one dumping back to the return. You can force the issue by plugging all the ports from the diverter valve except the power steering and one leading to the pressure relief valve. Make sure you have a relief valve somewhere in the circuit or you may damage the pump. If the power steering still will not work, then you know you need a new pump or power steering unit. If it does, then you can install a new diverter valve that you can manually control the flow with.

I used the entire Hydrostatic steering system from an IH 403 combine. it is the exact same steering as an 806-?? I run it off a ford power steering pump to run it, works very well so far, no steering linkage, easy to mount on,, not a HP burner system either. I have a few pics if u wanna have a look. ChadS
