Hey fellas, I posted a question about a generator in the "tool talk" forum last Friday and by the responses I can tell the other fellers think I am either retarded or ignorant or a combination thereof.

I want to show them exactly what I am working with...so could somebody give me a step by step on posting within a message, especially multiple photos in one message? I am asking here because it seems that there are several of you (ahem...Allan, Howard...) that know how to work these things...

Thanks alot fellas!

I found this out from somebody here. Go to the website and find your picture through the browse menu. After you upload your picture, it will come up with an address in red. Put that in the optional Image URL and it will post the picuture with your message.

Hi Brian,

1. Get your pic prepared on your own machine, i.e. copy it off your camera, size it to the resolution you wish, etc. I generally keep my pics to 800x600 or less just because anything more means a lot bigger file size and some people may not have enough resolution on the screens to see it all at one time.

2. You then need to upload the pic to a website...any website will do. The potentially confusing thing is that the ytmag system won't accept pics directly from your machine...it must copy them from a website address. Some of the others here might know of a good freebie website where you can drop a file. I use my earthlink account as my temporary drop zone for posting pics to ytmag.

Exactly how to get your pic uploaded to your website it dependent on the target website. I use a windows FTP program to log into my earthlink web space and copy the image files. I've done this before using Internet Explorer, but it was a real hassle. If you need some detailed assistance with using FTP or IE to do this, shoot me a note, and I can help you through the details.

3. Once your images are uploaded to the website, you go into ytmag and post a new message. At the bottom of the form is a field for "Optional Image URL." Type the exact url for your uploaded image here...it's gotta be perfect. I usually make sure I can view the image in my browser, then I copy and paste that url into the ytmag form.

4. When you hit "Submit," the ytmag system will go out and find your image, copy it over to its own storage, and voila! your pic will now appear in your posting.

So, the squirrely part here is that you must have a website you can upload pics to that is not related to ytmag.

Hope that helps,

- David

btw, one of the cool things about the potentially new version of ytmag is that it allows you to upload images directly from your machine...WAY easier. (Not trying to start a flame war, gents...I know everyone's concerned about performance. I am too.)

The first thing you need to do is upload the pics to a website, any website will do, just so they are somewhere on the internet. I need to refresh my memory on the rest. I'll get back to you.

I just learned how a couple weeks ago, and the way people on here told me, I didn't have to go to any separate website to upload the pics from my computer. Just go to "Galleries" on the left side of this screen, then "tractor photos"(or implement photos, as the case may be). The galleries let you upload photos directly from your computer. Then, once they're posted there, you right click on the picture itself, click on "properties" which will show a url address, then just copy and paste the url address into the "optional image url" space in your forum reply. Clear as mud, right?

Well, thanks guys for the advice...problem is I may be more confused than I was before but I will take it step by step as previously stated and see how it works.

Thanks again.

Brian--I remember that I posted another reply with a little more detail. Check the link and read down to find my message. This one has a few more details.

Brian,

Try the link below where I wrote up a step-by-step process for posting a photo a few months back.

I mentioned the "tractor photos" page--there are others that can be used also, depending on what you're trying to post. I'm not sure about the new policy the other guys mentioned about posting, but this method works for me. Keep in mind that this method uses the YTMAG server for your photo so keep the file size as small as possible.
