like i posted yesterday, about the hyd. and power steering problem on my 400, i was thinking the ball valve that returns to the reservoir was bad, and letting all the pressure back. To take the top of the selector valve off, will there be spring pressure? I realy am not sure what there is under the cover, the picture isn't that good in the I&T manual.

The Blue Ribbon book says to take diagional bolts out of the cap and replace with 2" long bolts. Remove the other two bolts and let the longer bolts hold the cap in place. Once this is done you can go ahead and remove the 2" bolts and remove the cap and gasket. It sounds like it is a good idea to mark the cap and body so you get them back together right. I think you should be able to see what to do from there. Both the safety valve and the regulator valve are contained in that same block. Hope this helps.

The relief valve is in there if I remember right and yes will have pressure on it. I would say the flow devder is you problem and it should be in there as well.
