I'm thinking of buying a 1976 IH 966 hydro. I was just wonering if its a good tractor? It had a elect. fire that burnt up some of the gages and all the wires that the buyer must fix. Anyone know if the hydro's are good in them? What kind of power? Any other info would be greatly app. Thanks again.

The 966 Hydros were pretty decent tractors, however they did not have as much drawbar horsepower as the gear drive. Pull the transmission dipstick and smell the oil. If it has a burnt smell or is really dirty or milky, steer clear of this tractor.
