Hey all, I found a 1960 Farmall 340 for sale with 12 volt, wide front, and 3pt hitch. He said rear tires are about 65% with wheel weights, and the front hold air but could be replaced. He said it is a good tractor and runs fine but it is missing the white panels that run along the sides of the hoods. He couldn't tell me if if has live hydraulics or a live PTO. Is there anything else I should look for on this tractor? Do you think thoses panels along the hood will be hard to find? What should I offer him for it? Thanks in advance for any help, BEN/IL

The 340 is about as big as the Super C because it has the same engine rearend but no ta it has less touque then the H but is almost as big as one it is 1 step down from a H I have run both during hay season and they are pretty good but they are not as big as a H by any means .. It has a super A engine (with the govener turned up) They are nice but people used to weight down a H till it weighed like a model M...If your are brushoging youl know it....

you can find the side pannels at salvade yards but they will cost you $50 - 75 a piece to replace. I'd think most any running 340 would be worth $2000

The 340 would have LPTO and live hyd. You didnt say if it was gas or diesel the diesel would sell higher, but everthing depends on the shape it is in. Good luck.

He said it runs and drives good, and its the gas model. He said the paint is original, mainly faded. Its not really beat up or rusted. I was also looking at a M with a wide front but it sounds like this tractor would be a little more practical for use with the live hydraulics and live PTO. Any idea how many HP? I would guess it would handle my Farmall H equipment? Thanks Again, BenH/IL
