I am looking for information on what color to paint a International I-4 tractor. I seen pictures where they are red or a yellowish color. Thank you to anybody who can help me out with this information.

Mine, a 1941 model, was painted safety orange, (still is actually). Used Ace enamel, close enough for me. Those early paints weren't as matched as they are today. Heard of 2 tractors leaving the plant in a beautiful royal blue, the colors of the company that purchased them. There is no "correct" color. Use your own judgement and preferences, it is your tractor.

Red was standard on the I-4 although IHC would paint them any color you wanted. Back then safety/industrial orange was the most popular industrial color. Industrial yellow did not become a common/standard industrial color until the late 1950's.

IH would paint them any color, but my I4 is red,and rust, original paint was red,but am going to paint it yellow when I restore it.Iys your tractor paint it any color you wnat.I beleive it was a feller in Wisconsin or Michigan or somewhere up north who rtold me,"If ya paint it red, itll just be another Farmall, but yellow will get some attention."Im accualli considering painting it the John Deere industrial yellow.

Thanks for the replys to my question. When I restore the I4 I will look for any color under the red. Though some IH primer did look like a yellow color, I will like you guys said paint it my color because it is my tractor. I just wanted to keep it as orginal as possible. Thanks again.
