This happened on my 230 a last fall. We put new seals in and every thing is fine now.

Billy, your hydraulic pump just ahead of your distributer has seals at both ends not 0-rings. Usually that seal will last as long as the pump. You can still get these seals from your Case/IH dealer. However when these pumps ware and start to go they will build internal pressure and actually push the seals out. You can try new seals and it might hold for a while. But in my case the new seal only lasted maybe an hour before pushing it out. The only real solution is a new pump.

Could be that the 300 pump is different from my SH, I had it apart, and I vaguely remember o-rings. I was going to use a speedy sleeve for the groove, but for some reason it didn't fit (don't remember the details, been over a year ago). I have heard of the blowing seal thing, but the 3 pumps I have had apart were not worn, so the seal is at least worth a try, as easy as the pumps are to work on.

Probably means the draft tube, likely needs rings, also.

The pump shaft has an o-ring on it that is shot. Hyd oil then has a direct path to the crankcase. If the shaft is grooved, you need to have the groove filled, or use a speedy sleeve.
