Mornin" fellas,

I"m taking a cab off of an old tractor and in the process ran into the need to find some really "odd-ball" parts & pieces.

I put an ad in the "Classified" section and within an hour found everything I needed. Those classifieds do work; "bout the fouth or fifth time now that I"ve used "em and every time, someone always comes thru.

Just passing it on,

Allan

Hi Allan. Way to keep the economy moving all by yourself! Did you end up with any extra fender supports that attach the fenders to the platform on the 966? I've got the original battery bases now and I hope that the battery covers are still available. Do those long narrow 6 volt batterys hooked in series crank this thing over or should we put in some optima jobbies? I know they don't look original but don't want to make a mistake here. I'm headed to the shop now to fire this thing up for the first time since all the fun began about a month ago. Man it better be right or there could be a tractor burning here today. Wish me luck!

Thanks Howard!!!!! !!!!

You reminded me. I completely spaced off those filler panels and just put in the order; hope he can find the little rascals. This feller says that they just pulled an open station 1066 into the shop to part out, so maybe I'll get lucky just this once. :>(

Mike at Steelwheelranch has those battery covers @ $21 a pop.

The 6 volt batteries work just fine, but Optima also makes the narrow skinny things in a 12 volt version, so that's what I'm going with & I'll wire in parallel.

Post back on your baby. Been dyin' to know how you made out on that nasty repair!!!

Allan

Ive always had sucess with wanted ads. They work great .Several sellers call you, tell what they want and allow you to choose the best deal for you. This way they sort of unknowingly are competing with each other to give you the best choice and price.Although I had one guy start telling me about the patina on the box the part was in.I said stop right there I can tell you want too much.

Allan, YOu"re right, The Classified Ads section of this site is a great place to post a query for parts and seemingly hard to find items. I needed the auxillary gas tank and shutter linkage for my restoration of my 40 A, and within hours had several E.mail responses. I ended up buying the whole shebang from a guy right here in Michigan who responded. A lot of folks with parts to sell do scan the classifieds trolling for customers. So just because you dont see a for sale post for what you are looking for is no indication it isnt out there.

Yes Sir,

It works on the 'Hauling' thing too.

Downside is that I'm a little overstocked on the darned tipout toolboxes that I've been whining about, but too many parts is sure better than not having what a guy needs.

Now Allan, I would't say you are overstoced on toolboxes. you are just short tractors

I agree. When I broke a drawbar brace I posted in the classifieds and had a dozen to choose from at fair prices. The truckers are great too. Just what I needed, a way to make it easier to haul rust!
