Can anyone tell me the correct paint code for the blue that farmall used on some of their cultivator parts for the A's, C's, 100's,etc. I'm having trouble finding any paint code from any manufacturer. Thanks, Brian.

Thanks for the timely post. I am a couple of weekends away from completing the grinding, sanding, wire brushing part of refurbishing the plow for my C. I am glad that I have the parts manual for "remembering" how to put it back together again. I am finding the blue paint clear down on the brackets and parts that the lays bolt to. It will be nice to see the final product. Still need to locate a couple of pieces to get it fully original. I will probably have to buy an entire second plow just to get the couple of parts that I need for this one. Then I will have an "orginal" plow and a "working" plow for my two C's.

Info I have says IH 1150B, your Dupont number is correct, crosses to PPG 10067 and Sherwin Williams 3736 -- Won't fade like Van Sickle if mixed as acrylic enamel or urethane.

Brian,

That dark blue paint that Ford used on their old engines is awfully close to what you are looking for.

All NAPA stores have it.

I have also used Ford Blue on the coulters(even though they were aftermarket Lantz) of a 3-14" Fasthitch plow, and it turned out great.

I have found that the IH blue Van-sickle brand is as close as you get. Case-IH does not have the blue paint available. I usually don't care for the van-sickle brand, but I am quite pleased with the blue.

Thanks Rusty, although I don't think I've ever heard of Van-sickle paints before, I did find the farmall paint code on their website. Perhaps I can match it to a brand of paint that's available in my part of michigan. Anyone else have any ideas on matching up "farmall blue"? I'm still open to other suggestions. Thanks, Brian

I've used Van Sickle too. I like ACE Hardware "International Blue" a little better. Seems to hold shine ok if mixed with hardner, not so without. Have used some brands(Rustoleum, Krylon, etc.)of Royal Blue, can't remember which, that matches the origonal color too. The ACE paint is as close of a match that I've used though.

The Van-sickle brand is what most farm supply stores carry. TSC, Orscheln's, etc. Surely you have a store in Michigan?

Original guidelines were spelled out in the Paint Committee decisions, available at the archives.

Be sure to read the "how to use" or you will make some wrong conclusions.
