Bought my 140 last fall and the previous owner had replaced the left rear with a new 11.2 - 24 tire. The right tire was still the original worn out tire. I noticed the tractor slipped a lot when disking and plowing the garden. Replaced the right rear with a matching 11.2-24 tire today and it was like getting a new tractor!

1) No slipping when disking evening in our still-wet clay soil.

2) Turns around on a dime when holding the brake. This was an unexpected benefit. Apparently a worn tire presents a big wide footprint whereas the projecting lugs on the new tire puts a lot fewer square inches on the ground when spinning around at the end of the row.

The other thing was the folks that installed the previous new rear tire had apparently not put anti-freeze in the water!! Both rear tire tubes are now properly filled with anti-freeze and water.

There you go Bill! That would be like you with a bedroom slipper on one foot and a rubber boot on the other trying to plant your tatters in a rain! Glad to hear you're happy with your investment...Mike in Exeter Ontario

One other thing, the previous owner had replaced one front tire with an implement style tire (no center rib). Replaced that tire with a correct center rib style tire and it made a noticeable difference in how the the tractor turns around and tracks while disking. It just goes to show the engineers, designers and testing folks at IH knew what they were doing back in the 1930's when they developed the tire specifications for these tractors.
