I guess you will have to pick which type of engine you want in the M bellhousing. Ford, Chevrolet, Chrysler, I ve seen lots of them. The chevy is pretty easy to do, just take the rear engine plate from the M, and find the center line for the drive shaft, drill the transmission mounting pattern in the M back plate. Use a chevy clutch and flywheel, and make your own throw out bearing that works for the chevy pressure plate. On the drive shaft, you can cut the M shaft in 2, and get the shaft from the 4 speed chevy tranny, cut both to length, and make an adapter coupler to fit the 2 halfs together. Starters,,, well you can use a transmission mounted starter, like the old powerglide trannys used, and it bolts on to the M's engine plate with 3 bolts. If the frame rails are in the way,, either notch them out, or use ones from a bigger series IH, like a 560, or from the 56 series tractors. They will bolt on to the M bellhousing. Chevys had a few different diameters of flywheels, so did ford, so where space is critical, look for the smaller diameter flywheels. it may help you utilize the space needed to mount a stock chevy, or ford starter to your V8 swap. My persoanla preference for engines would be MOPAR, lots of torque, fords #2 choice, Chevys # 3. Hope this helps,, ChadS
