I brought this home Last weekend, all 4 cylinders have been filled with liquid wrench and still is stuck tight. Any suggestions? Also, the guy I bought it from said that the powersteering and the wheel weights are rear. Is this a diamond in the rough? Even if it's not, I will retore it anyway...keeps me out of trouble and besides, the wife will know where to find me!

I would agree with the other guys that its not to rare. However I also live in CT and have not seen to many. I would say thats its rare for the CT area. Given that they were geared to manily the west and not the east. Where did you get it from? Andrew

Hi Bruce...I don't see a muffler...did the tractor git stuck because it was left in the rain and water got into the cylinders because the exhaust was not covered? If so, you may as well go ahead and tear it down. The W6 is a very heavy tractor and could be a workhorse on many different jobs and a restored one really looks good. However, you will find it to be less versatile for some jobs and less economical to operate than a 'C' or 'H' tractor. I have a 1953 W6 but have not started any type of restoration yet. The only restoratrion I do though is mechanical and rust removal where needed. Don't like to see good stuff repainted...Good luck...Dixieland

Only the front wheel weights are rare. The rear weights are common. If you have power steering it will be added to the steering arm that goes from the front axel to the steering sector. (left side of tractor). There were 6891 of these produced in the years of 1952, 1953, 1954, the majority were built in 1953. Now if it were a SW-6-TA then you would really have a gem, but just a SW-6 is not very rare.

Power steering, wish my W6 had that. I was in the woods today pulling out an old IH plow amongst the trees.Sure could have used that to help dodge all the trees.

I was told I have powersteering, is that what the big box thing is that is below the steering wheel? That's what the guy said it was.

Never seen one with power steering. If you do have it there should be a small hydraulic cylinder attached to the main steering arm. Mine steers not bad while moving, just tough in the tight spots.
