Anyone know what this is on a fasthitch?

Here is a picture of the back of my '61 460. I picked up the 3pt arms at an auction a couple of weeks ago for $75 (think I got a good deal.) They have the dual holes in each socket (Cat I/Cat II.) It looks like they are reversible. My question is: Does anyone recognize the shroud bolted to the back of the PTO unit that prevents the hitch from moving side to side? I've only seen this on one other 560 and I have no idea what it is or why it would be used. Might it be factory? The left side is welded and not bolted. I do not see this in any parts manual. Looks like it's the industrial version of the pin you put in underneath to prevent side movement on the hitch. Does anyone think this setup would be dangerous with a fasthitch plow? Any comments are welcome.

Don't think it's factory. Some rear mounted implements, such as a rear mount cultivator "sometimes" work best with no side to side movement. Most other implements need to swing side to side slightly. I don't think you want a plow rigid -- otherwise I don't know.

Mike my 766 has something similar to what you pictured except that she has blocks that you can rotate to allow side to side play or lock drawbar solid for no movement, and we had a fasthitch #510 4/16s plow for years then traded it on a #710 4/18s 3 point and never had any problems David
