I have a gas B414, and really like the tractor. It's a great utility with lots of power, good hydraulics, and the differential lock is great in snow (here in Wisconsin). It's the perfect size to use with 3point implements.

Ron does your B414 gas have a METAL EMBLEM by the gas tank? Is the tailpipe horizontal? Is there one or two SMALL lights on the rear fender(s)?

9n8801, I agree with Hugh and pound for pound tractors don't come any tougher or any better than the British series....Mike in Exeter Ontario

Leon: I didn't realize ugly or beautiful, made a good tractor. It certainly isn't anymore ugly than a 460-560 or 66 series. IH was scrapeing bottom of the barrel with those.

B-414 is just a great little tractor, tough and they run for years and years quite trouble free. Very fuel efficient. Don't worry to much about parts, Canada is lousy with those tractors. I'd be willing to bet you can walk into any CaseIH dealer in North America and get most parts for it. First ones were the B-250 and B-275, those were hard starters in cold weather, for the most part that was cured during the first engine rebuild. Then came B-414, 434 and 444. Mahindra is still building the same basic tractor today. They are best equiped with a block heater for cold weather starting.

Good: It's a fairly rare tractor. That is, one in good condition should be fairly valuable to the right person.
Bad: It's a fairly rare tractor. That is, parts might be tough to come by.
Ugly: Darned tootin' it's butt ugly! I don't know if that's what British people considered attractive, or if it was the American designers thumbing their noses at the UK for the whole colony/American Revolution thing, but those tractors just do nothing for me.
