Noticed a tiny fissure on the transmission housing after sandblasting which doesn't go all the way through and doesn't leak. It could have been there for decades. Would you weld it or just braze it with silver solder?

All sound advice. What ever you do do not add any heat. Even with grinding take care as a grinder can drive a crack deeper. Use a carbide tip on a rotary grinder (die grinder) A disc grinder following the line can drive it deeper.

If it doesn't leak LEAVE it alone! If you heat it up in any way its sure to start a leak if not worse. If your worryed about if fill it with JB weld and sand it down and then repaint over it. In this case if it ain't broke don't fix it is the best way to go.

Sounds like some decent advice. I even have some JB Weld sitting here on my desk.

Use Dells old trick, stick some course grit sandpaper to the jb weld as it dries, gives a "cast" surface to your repair, then just paint over it,no sanding required..
