3 positions use the O D B. If it has 4 positions use the L H D B [low charge, high charge, dim, bright.] Usually the 4 position is found on early Farmalls. As far as I know, they were used on USA tractors.

A picture is worth a thousand words. I believe the other decal L H D B was not used on the U.S.A. tractors?? O D B = Off Dim Bright. Hope this helps.

Daniel, That's a sharp looking SA. Wish mine was a super for the hydraulics. But.... Nice job on the alternator mounting also. Looks neat. FB

Finally, here's a before picture. I wish now I had one before we took off the sheet metal. Would you believe a broken generator belt started all this? It just kept on with "We might as well... while were this far"!

Bet that was a bear to move into the shop from there. I moved my B in and out of the shop several times with the steering unhooked, was a pain each and every time. ;o)

Here's the other side. Pretty much like it was in '51 except for the alternator conversion. How do you like the mount? I wanted it tucked up close but I almost got it in the way of the front hood latch!

Boy, that's a beauty of a tractor. I have a 140 which I am going to convert to 12V alternator. Can you tell me what you had to do for a mounting bracket? It looks like you added something substantial.
thanks

The bracket is made from the orignal generator bracket(it had be welded before so I didn't mind sacrificing it)with a piece of angle iron turned over it and welded to crate a flat top surface. The bracket is a off-the-shelf GM dress up bracket from Mr. Gasket bolted to the angle iron in sloted holes so the pulleys can be lined up. The top adjusting bracket is from a 50's small block chevy cut to length and mounted to a bolt in the top water neck. The pulley is from a 70's GM, it's narrower than the later v-belt pullys and works better with the tractor pulley. Good luck.

Daniel;
What all did you do to the Super A in the restoration? Was it pretty much clean, sandblast and paint or did you do some repair also? I have aSuper A that I want to restore to good working condition. I have to wait until my son gets his H out of the shop.
